Ghost of the Forest

When I first heard that there was a cat living in Africa’s forests that was so rarely seen it almost seemed like a myth, I was fascinated. I went to Kibale National Park, in southwest Uganda, to learn more more about this amazing species.

Small carnivores of the African rainforest

It turns out, we know shockingly little about most of the small carnivores in Africa’s tropical forests. I immediately included these in my study to gather baseline data and see how they interact with golden cats.

In the Kalahari, leopards and lions face the challenge of surviving in a harsh and unpredictable climate while trying to avoid being killed by angry cattle farmers. Leopard Ecology & Conservation works hard to mitigate this conflict.
